Lay Servant Academies

We celebrate the district Lay Servant Academies this spring! Leaders in the Potomac Highland District gathered last week, Southern District is gathering this coming weekend, and Little Kanawha District is meeting April 14-15. Lay servant courses are open to all, regardless of district, and there are opportunities for clergy to receive continuing education credit for some courses. More information is available at wvumc.org/calendar or the district websites.

These training events are made possible though the generous support of the people of the West Virginia Conference of The United Methodist Church.

The General Board of Church and Society

This United Methodist agency is dedicated to the work of living faith, seeking justice, and pursuing peace. The board is called to seek the implementation of the Social Principles and other policy statements of the General Conference on Christian social concerns – to fulfill the mandate of: relating the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Church, communities, and the world in which they live, bringing the whole of human life into conformity with the will of God, and showing that reconciliation involves personal, social and civic righteousness. One recent example of their work is a grant to support the 2023 Family Camp for Native American United Methodist Families organized by the United Methodist Native American International Caucus (NAIC).
