Below (in alphabetical order) are some of the ways you can get connected with United Methodist youth throughout West Virginia and Garrett County, Maryland.

CCYM (Conference Council on Youth Ministry)

A dedicated team comprised of youth and adults from across the conference. They are the brain power behind all youth events and programs offered by the conference. They gather to pray, plan, and pretend to pay attention during meetings. If you are interested in joining this amazing team of committed people contact Lauren Shanholtzer, CCYM President at lauren.shanholtzer@gmail.com. Applications for 2017-2018 CCYM will be accepted until July 1st.

Fall Workshop

An annual youth event held the weekend before Thanksgiving at Cedar Lakes Conference Center. (http://wvde.state.wv.us/cedarlakes).

Radical Discipleship Academy of Appalachia

The Radical Discipleship Academy of Appalachia is a twelve-month spiritual formation experience for youth. After the initial summer week, participants are a part of a covenant group that meets monthly over the next 11 months to continue learning and growing together, and to help participants begin leading in new ways in their church and community. The program launched with a week at Spring Heights, July 24-29, 2016. For more information, visit http://www.springheights.org/radical-discipleship.html.

Rally on the Mountain

An event for youth, designed by youth. For more information, please visit Rally on the Mountain!

Mission of Peace

Each year the West Virginia Annual Conference takes 3-5 youth on the Northeast Jurisdiction’s Mission of Peace. They travel to a foreign country and spend two weeks learning about the culture and faith of Christians in the area. The actual mission takes place upon the youth’s return when they take at least five opportunities to share their experience with others. The country changes each year, and applications are due March 15, 2016 for the 2017 Mission of Peace to Nicaragua. (Please note, this event is reserved for High School Sophomores and Juniors only). For more information, please visit http://www.nejumc.org/mop.html or contact Shea James, Director of Youth and Outdoor Ministry at sjames@wvumc.org
